Sight for Kids

Thursday, November 25th, 2022 marked a very special day for Arc Optical Club. The organization held its first project bringing free comprehensive eye exams to school children at Offinso-Abofo in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. The project, dubbed "Sight For Kids: A Fight against Vision Related Learning Disabilities" screened nearly 150 patients (including teaching staff and pupils) for eye diseases and  refractive errors.

Arc Optical Club collaborated with Dr. Samuel Sesah O.D and his team and the Administration of  Samac Glorious Academy to embark on this project. According to Dr. Sesah, about 98% of all patients screened had no history of eye exams since birth. Although most of these school children had no major ocular concerns, it is imperative that they are given annual routine checks to prevent possible visual defects.

A collaboration with Pillmart Pharmacy

We couldn’t be prouder of yet another milestone of providing a comprehensive eye screening, among others to over 200 people. This was done in collaboration with the Pilmart Pharmacy and Clinic for the residents of Unity Hall inside KNUST.

Having good eyesight has a profound impact on all aspects of life, ranging from personal health, educational achievements, and professional opportunities to fostering sustainable development in local communities and driving economic growth.

MYOPIA RESCUE

We’ve been resolute in our resolve to contribute to rescuing 5 billion people from suffering from MYOPIA by 2050. This informed our decision to embark on the MYOPIA RESCUE PROJECT at the King Jesus Charity Home. We had an opportunity to offer a comprehensive eye examination to over 55 people with the necessary referral and medical prescription. To the fact that this is a charity home, our team is still working around the clock to foot the bills for the medical prescriptions and referrals. You can make a pledge today to support our cause.

COMMUNITY EYE HEALTH DAY

In collaboration with local partners, we organized FREE screening services for widows, orphans, and the elderly, reaching out to an underserved community-- at the Orphan Starline Foundation, Aboaso. Witnessing firsthand the impact of our efforts was truly inspiring. We encountered a vast array of ocular issues, from presbyopia to glaucoma, highlighting the pressing need for accessible eye care in remote areas.

Our dedicated team worked tirelessly to provide comprehensive screenings, offering essential education on eye health and treatment options. Through this initiative, we aimed not only to address immediate needs but also to raise awareness about the importance of regular eye check-ups for overall well-being.
